Nepal and Azerbaijan hold first political consultation

May 1, Kathmandu: Nepal and Azerbaijan on Wednesday held their first political consultation in Kathmandu. Foreign Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai and Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Elnur Mammadov, led the discussions for their respective sides.

The meeting focused on Nepal-Azerbaijan relations, with both sides agreeing to enhance cooperation in trade, investment, tourism, culture, education, climate change, and clean energy, according to a press release issued by the Ministry. They decided to establish a Bilateral Consultation Mechanism between their foreign ministries for ongoing dialogue.

After the talks, Secretary Rai hosted a dinner for Mammadov and his delegation. During his visit, Mammadov will meet high-level officials, join a roundtable discussion with the Investment Board Nepal, and give a lecture on Azerbaijan’s foreign policy.

Mammadov and his delegation will leave Kathmandu on Saturday
