Dipesh Yadav arrested for manhandling journalist

Lumbini: The police in Rupandehi arrested Dipesh Yadav from Kakarhawa in the district for manhandling journalist Radheshyam Bishwakarma during news reporting.

Police confirmed that Yadav was held on Monday as he manhandled journalist Bishwakarma in Marchabar in Rupandehi district.

Spokesperson and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of Rupandehi Police Office, Suraj Karki, shared that Yadav was arrested from the Nepal-India bordering area.

Journalist Bishwakarma had filed a complaint at the District Police Office stating that a gang of 7-8 people had manhandled him while he was reporting. Suraj Karki said Yadav was arrested at the Nepal-India border.

The Lumbini Press Club had submitted a 24-hour memorandum to the administration on April 22 seeking justice for journalist Bishwakarma and action against Yadav.

Likewise, the Club also staged a demonstration for an hour in front of the District Administration Office, Rupandehi, from 10:15 on Thursday.

Chairperson of Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) Nirmala Sharma, senior journalists Hari Bahadur Thapa, Tirtha Koirala, Ujjawal Sharma, Chairperson of FNJ Lumbini Province Committee Shukrarishi Chaulagain and others expressed their solidarity seeking justice for journalist Bishwakarma.
