Inhumane and heinous crimes committed during armed conflict cannot be forgiven: PM Oli
Kathmandu: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has asserted that inhumane and heinous crimes committed during Nepal’s armed conflict cannot be forgiven in the process of finalizing transitional justice.
Speaking at the inauguration of the sixth national convention of the National Ex-Army and Police Organization of Nepal today, Prime Minister Oli—who also chairs the CPN (UML)—emphasized that the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the Commission of Investigation on Enforced Disappeared Persons would ensure justice for victims.
He assured that there would be no further delay in the formation and functioning of these commissions. “Nepal has transitioned into a federal democratic republic, and acts of murder, violence, religious incitement, and anarchy in the name of political movements are no longer acceptable,” he stated.
The Prime Minister also stressed the importance of national unity and social harmony in a country as diverse as Nepal. He called on former military and police personnel to remain committed to the nation and to the party’s ideals.
