On Air Station:

CPN (Maoist Centre) to contest upcoming general election without an alliance

Jhapa: CPN (Maoist Centre) chair and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that his party will not bother about toppling the government.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony of ‘Maoists with People: Tarai-Madhesh Awakening Campaign’ launched by the party from Kachankabal here today, he expressed the view that the CPN (Maoist Centre) would now go to the people.

‘We have taken a pledge to move forward by cooperating with the people rather than joining or toppling the government,’ Dahal argued. Stating that the party had to turn away from its relationship with the people when it shared power with the CPN (UML) and the Nepali Congress in the past, he vowed to move forward by introspecting and reviewing the shortcomings of the past.

He said the awareness campaign was launched to deepen ties with all ethnicities and minority communities. Dahal further reiterated to contest the upcoming general election without forging any coalition.

The party’s Jhapa in-charge Ranjeet Tamang informed that the campaign with the people, which started from Kachankabal, will conclude by reaching Kanchanpur on March 2.
