On Air Station:

It’s not a good culture to run state thru ordinance: Dr Koirala

Bhaktapur, Feb 10: Nepali Congress leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala has said it was wrong to run the state through ordinances.

At a program themed ‘Girija Prasad Koirala and Current Politics’ organized by the GP Koirala Foundation in Bhaktapur on Monday, leader Koirala shared that it was not good to develop the culture of running the state of affairs through ordinances.

It would be autocratic if attempts were made to bypass the parliament, he said, stressing the need to make acts and laws through parliament as the two-thirds majority government doesn’t need to bring ordinances. Meanwhile, on the contrary, NC leader and Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak shared that ordinances were brought to accelerate the government’s performance.

Talking to media persons at Dhangadhi today, he mentioned that the ordinances would be passed after presenting them before the parliament at an appropriate period. The Home Minister argued that there was no problem passing the ordinances, clarifying that the ruling alliance would remain intact till the 2084 general elections. —RSS
