Agriculture Minister urges not to use excessive toxicants in agricultural crops

Madhyabindu, Feb 8: Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development, Ramnath Adhikari, has urged farmers to avoid excessive use of toxic chemicals in crops.

The minister made this request while inspecting collective onion farming in Nawalparasi this morning.

“Do not use too many chemicals in crops. If you do, it will also harm your health,” Minister Adhikari said.

He stated that he has reassured farmers that the government supports them during financial difficulties, emphasizing that farming should not be done solely for profit.

“Many farmers are now satisfied, but some are facing challenges due to crop diseases and shortages of chemical fertilizers,” he added.

The Prime Minister’s Agriculture Modernization Project, Project Implementation Unit Nawalpur, has launched a commercial onion cultivation program. This year, 25 groups are engaged in onion farming in Nawalparasi (Bardaghat East).

According to Sunil Kumar Singh, head of the Project Implementation Unit Nawalpur, onions have been cultivated on 20 bighas of land in the district.
