At a ‘legal-ethnical recruitment workshop’ organized here today by the Foreign Employment Board secretariat, Minister Bhandari stressed the need to perform in a way to boost the confidence of the general public towards foreign employment.

He recommended transparent delivery of the services for this and urged us to show moral conduct to that end. The Minister argued that the entrepreneurs should be held responsible for protecting the migrant workers from untimely demise and debt trap.

He shared that the ministry has been imparting training and necessary information to the migrant workers before and after foreign employment.

‘The ministry is preparing a work procedure to provide credit without collateral to those going for foreign employment,’ Minister Bhandari informed.

‘As many as 14,000 Nepali workers have died in foreign employment in 16 years. Today too, 40 per cent of the returnee migrants from the Gulf nation are undergoing dialysis, most of them are suffering from kidney related ailments,’ he shared, adding, ‘The government is devising efforts to protect workers. I ask the entrepreneurs to make a promise to demonstrate moral conduct for the same.’

Bhandari said the ministry was effortful to go for complete digitalization of its works for the welfare of the workers. Also speaking on the occasion, the Director-General of the Department of Foreign Employment, Surya Bahadur Khatri cautioned the entrepreneurs to not make false promises.

‘The migrant workers are not receiving job and remuneration as per the agreement,’ he said.
