Family of Bipin Joshi hopes for safe return amid Israel-Hamas ceasefire

January 20, Kathmandu: The family of Bipin Joshi from Kanchanpur, who has been held captive by Hamas in Gaza for the past fifteen months, clings to hope for his safe return following the recent ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas.

While the initial prisoner exchange saw the release of three hostages by Hamas, Bipin was not among them neither was his name on the list of the hostages to be released in the first phase. This has left his family anxious, though they remain hopeful that he will be included in subsequent phases of the prisoner exchange.

Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak assured the public that the government is actively working to secure Bipin’s release. “We have received information indicating that Bipin is still alive in Hamas’s custody. The government is committed to his safe return and is exploring all diplomatic channels to achieve this,” Minister Lekhak stated.
