Leaders of four major parties discuss improving lawmaking process
Kathmandu: Leaders of four major political parties have held talks to improve the lawmaking process and make parliamentary procedures more effective.
The meeting took place today at the CPN-UML parliamentary office in Singhadurbar, with representatives from the Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, CPN (Maoist Centre), and the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) attending.
CPN-UML’s Chief Whip, Mahesh Kumar Bartaula, said the discussion focused on finding a common position on bills being discussed in parliamentary committees.
Bartaula added that the goal was to make parliamentary work more efficient and ensure bills are moved forward more quickly.
He also mentioned that efforts would be made to prevent bills from getting stuck in the House or committees for many years, as has happened in the past.
