Prithvi Narayan Shah’s precepts are guidelines for nation building: President
Kathmandu: President Ramchandra Paudel has said that the Divyopadesh (precepts) of Prithvi Narayan Shah, the leader of the Nepal unification campaign, are a guide for economy building, patriotism and conducting diplomatic relations with neighbouring countries.
Issuing a message on the occasion of National Unity Day today, the Head of the State has made it clear that the contribution made by our forefathers in building present-day Nepal by unifying the smaller principalities that were Nepal before this should not be forgotten.
“Prithvi Narayan Shah created the nation of modern Nepal by uniting the smaller principalities and this campaign was continued by our brave ancestors in different periods of history, due to which we are proud to be a sovereign and independent Nepal today,” the President stated in his message.
President Paudel has further stated: “Stepping on this very basic foundation, we have already declared Nepal an independent, indivisible, sovereign, secular, inclusive, democratic, socialism-oriented Federal Democratic Republic.”
The President has also stressed the need of recalling Prithvi Narayan Shah’s ‘Divyopadesh’ as we commemorate his 303rd birth anniversary today.
“May this occasion of National Unity Day inspire everyone to achieve the happiness and prosperity of the people by keeping the independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity and national unity of our country intact,” reads the President’s message.
