NAST to honor scientists, experts, and talents in 12 categories

Kathmandu: The 48th Academic Assembly of Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) has announced plans to honor scientists, experts, and talents across 12 different categories.

The decision was made during a meeting held at the Prime Minister’s Residence in Baluwatar, chaired by Prime Minister and NAST Chancellor KP Sharma Oli.

The awards will be presented based on the recommendations of a selection and evaluation committee formed under the coordination of NAST academics. These awards will be given out on the occasion of the foundation’s upcoming anniversary.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Oli emphasized the need for the concerned authorities to prepare a proposal for the implementation of a contribution-based pension scheme, along with an amendment to the financial administration regulations, which will be presented at the next academic assembly.

He also urged NAST officials to ensure that work is carried out efficiently and with high quality, adhering to set timelines.

Additionally, Minister of Education, Science, and Technology, and Vice-Chancellor Bidya Bhattarai, highlighted the importance of adhering to the Public Procurement Act when arranging for procurement, including the provision of snacks.

Prof. Dr. Dilip Subba, the Vice-Chancellor of NAST, assured that after necessary consultations, a proposal to amend the regulations would be presented.
