Installation of Bailey bridge begins in Khurkot
October 7, Kathmandu: The Nepali Army has started the installation works of a Bailey bridge at Khurkot over the Sunkoshi River.
The recent flooding in the river had washed away the bridge from the bordering point of the Sindhuli and Ramechhap districts. The bridge that connected Golanjor Rural Municipality-7 in Sindhuli and Manthali Municipality-6 in Ramechhap district collapsed after the flood, obstructing vehicular movement in BP Highway and Pushpalal Highway.
The Public Relations and Information Directorate of NA said that installation works of the bridge were started to resume traffic at the earliest possible time. Half of the 100-metre-long bridge to the side of Ramechhap district was collapsed after the flooding caused due to the downpour on September 27-29.
The NA would fix some 51 metres of the Bailey bridge and almost all materials for the installation have been managed, it is said. Thousands of people from Ramechhap, Sindhuli and other neighbouring districts have witnessed hardships in travelling after heavy damage to physical infrastructures there.
