Around 1,000 houses inundated in Saptari
September 30, Kathmandu: As many as 1,000 houses in Kanchanpur municipality of Saptari district have been inundated due to non-stop rainfall for few days.
A total of 28 houses were pulled down while water gushed into some 700 houses at Bairawa of ward no 1 in the municipality, according to Bhola Paswan, a local leader.
Similarly, houses at Sardar, Khanga, Ram, Muslim and Yadav settlements are submerged. The flooding destroyed crops planted across 100 bighas of land.
Water entered into the human settlements due to raging rivers in the vicinity such as Koshi River, Sundari River and Mohuli River. A public office belonging to Kankalini municipality was also inundated, informed Kishore Ram, chief administrator.
