Dhurbe causing havoc again, locals terrified

January 5, Kathmandu: A wild elephant named ‘Dhrube’, who is infamous for causing havoc in Chitwan National Park, has been sighted again in nearby villages in Chitwan district.
The elephant was spotted at Madi Municipality and Bayarghari area of Bharatpur Metropolitan City-23, Chitwan on Wednesday and Thursday.
He destroyed four houses at Bayarghari on Thursday, according to Ganesh Prasad Tiwari, the Information Officer of Chitwan National Park (CNP). The locals are terrified by the reappearance of Dhrube, who has killed 22 people so far.
He was also seen in ward no. 23 and 24 of Bharatpur Metropolitan City and Madi area last month. Tiwari said that a satellite collar was attached to the elephant to monitor and control his movements.
The National Park has advised the people to take safety measures to avoid any confrontation with the wild elephant.
