Nepal Electricity Authority unveils progressive installment plan

Kathmandu: The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has introduced a favorable installment plan for consumers using dedicated and trunk lines, allowing them to settle electricity consumption tariffs with discounted billing in up to 60 monthly installments.

The decision was reached during a Board of Directors meeting chaired by Minister of Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation Shakti Bahadur Basnet.

NEA’s Managing Director, Kulman Ghising, revealed that the board’s special arrangement allows for installment payments over the same number of months or a maximum of 60 months corresponding to the discounted billing period.

This initiative addresses persistent non-payment issues from industrial, commercial, and non-commercial consumers connected to dedicated feeders and trunk lines.

The NEA had previously issued notices urging tariff settlement but initiated disconnections, for non-compliance with electricity payment regulations.
