Beni-Jomsom Road Flooding: Traffic Stranded

June 14, Kathmandu: The Beni-Jomsom road connecting the Mustang district to the national highway has been disrupted due to flooding. A culvert in Annapurna Rural Municipality-2, Bhurung Tatopani, was washed away, causing the obstruction. Vehicles travelling to and from Beni and Mustang are stranded, resulting in traffic disruption.

Previously, a three-meter bridge was destroyed by a flood on May 20, and a temporary structure was put in place, which was also swept away by the recent flood. Efforts are being made to restore road traffic by mobilizing equipment and labour.

In a separate incident, a 23-year-old woman named Sabina BK lost her life after falling off a cliff in Dhawalagiri Rural Municipality-7, Dharapani, while collecting fodder. She was pronounced dead at Manipal Teaching Hospital in Pokhara, and her body is currently at the hospital.
