Kathmandu, Oct. 21: Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR), Dol Prasad (DP) Aryal, has said that festivals such as Dashain help strengthen mutual understanding, brotherhood and social unity among Nepalis, promoting harmony amid diversity.

In his greetings message on the occasion of Bada Dashain, the country’s biggest festival, Speaker Aryal extended his heartfelt wishes to all Nepalis at home and abroad for happiness, peace, prosperity, good health, longevity and continued progress.

Aryal also wished that Goddess Durga Bhawani would bless the country with greater unity and strength, expressing confidence that the festival would inspire fresh energy, new ideas and a renewed commitment to nation-building.

”The Federal Parliament remains committed to formulating and amending timely, people-friendly laws in line with public aspirations, while safeguarding popular sovereignty and state authority to achieve good governance, social justice and prosperity,” the Speaker of the Lower House of the Federal Parliament said in his message.

Referring to Nepal’s multi-ethnic, multilingual, multi-religious and multicultural character, he said Dashain symbolizes the victory of virtue over evil and truth over falsehood.

Speaker Aryal also expressed hope that the festival would inspire people to follow the path of social justice and integrity while upholding democratic values.

The country is celebrating the 10th day of Bada Dashain, known as Bijaya Dashami, today.

The festival begins with Ghatasthapana and reaches its main celebration on the tenth day, when people receive tika, jamara, and blessings from their elders. The festivities continue until Kojagrat Purnima, the full moon day. RSS
