Prime Minister Shah issues Dashain message, calls for truth, governance, and prosperity

KATHMANDU — Prime Minister Balendra Shah extended greetings of peace, health, and prosperity to Nepalis at home and abroad on the occasion of Bada Dashain.

In a festive message, Prime Minister Shah highlighted Dashain as a festival of unity, intimacy, and family reunion that brings the global Nepali community together. He noted that traditions such as receiving Tika and Jamara reflect the unique core values and culture of Nepali society.

Expressing grief over the loss of life and property caused by recent natural disasters in districts including Rasuwa, Nuwakot, and Gorkha, the Prime Minister offered condolences to affected families, wished a speedy recovery for the injured, and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to rehabilitating displaced citizens.

Characterizing Dashain as the victory of truth over falsehood and divine strength over evil, Prime Minister Shah urged citizens to overcome negative traits such as anger, greed, jealousy, and arrogance, while cultivating positive thinking and integrity. He expressed concern over rural depopulation and foreign employment, emphasizing that financial hardship should not make festivals a burden. Reaffirming government commitment to economic prosperity and good governance, he called on all Nepalis to celebrate Dashain in a civilized and grand manner.
