Flood in Budhigandaki: 35 houses of Chumanubri washed away
Gorkha, Oct 11: A flood in Budhigandaki has devastated Chumanubri, sweeping away 35 homes in the villages of Paiyu and Bagar.
Lakshmi Gurung, the vice chair of Chumanubri Rural Municipality, shared with RSS that the destruction extends to Dobhan, Ghattekhola, Jagat, and Salleri villages as well.
Early this morning, around 4:00 AM, the flood struck, prompting locals to flee to safer areas. Gurung noted significant damage to the market in Chumanubri Rural Municipality-3 due to the floodwaters.
In light of the ongoing risk, residents from Khorlabensi, Machakhola, Soti, Arkhet, and Arughat in Sirdibas and Dharche Rural Municipality have been advised to evacuate to safer locations, according to Akash Kandel, Police Inspector at the District Police Office in Gorkha.
There have been no reports of casualties so far, but detailed assessments of the damage are still pending, police said. RSS
