Government aims to link youth with innovation and entrepreneurship: Communication Minister Dr Timilsina
Kathmandu: Minister for Information and Communication Dr Bikram Timilsina has said the government is working to create an enabling environment to connect the country’s youth with innovation and entrepreneurship.
Addressing the fifth edition of the Nepal Youth Entrepreneurship Summit 2026 in Kathmandu on Friday, Minister Timilsina said Nepal’s economic prosperity depends on utilising the knowledge, skills, creativity and technological capabilities of its young population.
He stressed that investment in research and innovation is essential to help young people realise their ambitions and build prosperous futures in the country. He also called for greater support from the private sector to create opportunities for young entrepreneurs.

Minister Timilsina said interest and participation among young people in entrepreneurship are increasing worldwide, adding that Nepal is also facilitating the use of youth potential in production, services and technology.
He emphasised that promoting innovation and entrepreneurship requires coordination and collaboration among the government, private sector, educational institutions and other stakeholders.
The minister also said Nepal is developing skilled human resources and experts in information technology, describing this as an opportunity to transform the national economy.
Noting that many Nepali youths continue to go abroad for foreign employment, he said information technology could help take Nepali services to international markets and create new economic opportunities at home.
The summit was organised by the Nepal Business Institute in collaboration with the Confederation of Banks and Financial Institutions Nepal.
