Second amendment to Public Procurement Act on stakeholders’ recommendation’
Kathmandu: Minister for Infrastructure Development Sunil Lamsal has stated that the Public Procurement Act was amended for the second time acting on the recommendations from the Federation of Contractors’ Associations of Nepal (FCAN).

Minister Lamsal expressed gratitude for the important suggestions received from the Federation’s current executive committee during the second amendment of the Public Procurement Act.
On the wrap up session of the law reform consultation workshop for investment and development, he informed that the current government has adopted a strategy to draft necessary policies and regulations by sitting together with concerned stakeholders.
Minister for Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs Sobita Gautam said that the government has taken suggestions from the private sector as important documents and will implement accordingly.
Krishna Raj Pant, Secretary at the Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Chair of the Construction Business Promotion and Management Implementation Committee, informed that suggestions received from experts will be further revised and refined through a committee coordinated by a member of the National Planning Commission.
Also speaking on the occasion former Chairperson of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), Chandra Prasad Dhakal, stated that economic prosperity is only possible through cooperation between the private sector and the government.
Senior vice president of FCAN, Ramjee Pant, stated that the current government is private sector-friendly. Vice president of the CNI, Hemraj Dhakal, expressed confidence that the suggestions given by the private sector will be implemented.
The workshop, chaired by Sudip Dhakal, advisor to the Prime Minister on policy, administration, and good governance, was attended by chairpersons and members of parliamentary committees, representatives from the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers’ office, officials from various ministries, subject matter experts, and representatives from different private sector organizations.
The workshop featuring depth discussions on promoting investment, strategies to make development and construction further effective with necessary reforms and simplification of existing legal frameworks.
On the occasion, participants exchanged important ideas on creating an investment-friendly environment by addressing legal and procedural complexities in the development and construction sector.
