NC passes its amended statute, makes arrangement of 297-member central committee
Kathmandu: The amended statute of the Nepali Congress (NC) has been passed.

The closed-door session of the NC organised at Khulamanch today under its ongoing 15th national general convention passed the amended statute presented by General-Secretary Pradip Paudel.
NC Spokesperson Devraj Chalise shared that an arrangement of 297-member central working committee (CWC) has been made in the amended statute. As per the statute, there will be one president, one senior vice-president and four vice-presidents.
Of four, one should mandatorily be woman.
Similarly, there would be three general-secretaries with the mandatory inclusion of a woman. There are 15 assistant general secretaries while a treasurer would be appointed from central committee members.
The amended statute has the provision of 45 central committee members towards open category, 15 members towards women category and four members with a woman from each province.
Arrangement of two central committee members including a woman from Kathmandu Valley has been made while there would be 14 central committee members including five women from Dalit, 20 central committee members including eight women from indigenous nationalities, 18 central committee members including eight women from Khas Arya and 13 central committee members including five women from Madhesi community.
Similarly, the amended statute has the provision of seven central committee members including two women from Nepali Janasamparka Samiti and three from marginalized community, six including two women from Tharu community, three including one woman from labourers and seven including two women from professionals/experts.
There would be 21 central committee members under 35 years from all seven provinces, one central committee member from disabled category and three from freedom fighter category. Additionally, there is a provision of nominating 66 members by central working committee.
Although the amended statute has been passed today, the closed session scheduled for Tuesday would pass the proposals to be presented by NC president, vice-president and treasurer.
According to the NC, the statute has been passed today itself while nomination of candidates for election would start at 10:00 am on Tuesday.
