Tourist arrivals increase at Annapurna Base Camp as weather improves, routes reopen

Kathmandu: Tourist arrivals at the Annapurna Base Camp, or ABC, have increased in recent days following improved weather and the reopening of roads and trekking routes blocked by floods and landslides.

Around 300 tourists are currently reaching the ABC area daily, according to Dilip Gurung, Secretary of the Chhomrong Tourism Management Committee.

He said tourists who had planned to visit Manang and Manaslu are also choosing the ABC route as an alternative, as trekking routes in those areas remain disrupted.

Annapurna Rural Municipality Ward No. 11 Chairperson Him Bahadur Gurung said the road from Pokhara through Ghandruk to ABC is now open.

Annapurna Base Camp, at an altitude of around 4 thousand 1 hundred 30 metres, is a popular trekking destination offering close views of Mount Machhapuchhre and the Annapurna range.
