10th National Games will be held as scheduled: Minister Pokharel
Karnali: Minister for Education and Sports Sasmit Pokharel asserted that there is no doubt that the 10th National Games will be held as scheduled.

Speaking at a meeting of the Main Organizing Committee held in Birendranagar, Surkhet, today to prepare for the 10th National Games-2083 BS, Minister Pokharel shared that preparations were underway to hold the event on the announced dates.
“The 10th National Games will be held from December 2-13. With today’s meeting, I declare that this grand sporting event has officially begun!” The Minister viewed coordination and cooperation among the three tiers of government is essential to make the event more effective and productive than the 9th National Games.
He noted that the provincial government and Birendranagar Municipality had a particularly important role and responsibility in making the event successful.
Emphasizing the importance of sports for a healthy population and a prosperous country, Minister Pokharel urged all stakeholders to start disseminating the message nationwide that the ’10th National Games is going to be held in Karnali Province’.
He also called upon all stakeholders to fulfill their respective responsibilities. On the occasion, the Minister called for encouraging athletes from villages and remote areas across the country for pursuing sports and showcase their talent in a way that helps promote Nepal’s image on the international stage.
During the meeting, Karnali Province Chief Minister Mangal Bahadur Shahi shared that the provincial government had allocated Rs 90 million for the construction of Karnali Provincial Stadium.
He also informed that Rs 50 million was set aside for construction of sports infrastructures and Rs 30 million for conducting the 10th National Games.
Expressing happiness that the games, which had been postponed five times, would now be organized as planned, CM Shahi asserted that the provincial government had prioritized the sports sector and developed national-level sports infrastructure in the Province.
