UML central committee meeting over
Lalitpur: The central committee of the CPN (UML) concluded its third meeting in Lalitpur on Thursday. Bidya Devi Bhandari was nominated as party’s senior leader.

Chairman KP Sharma Oli’s political report was approved unanimously by the meeting. New central members were appointed in line with the decisions made at the 11th National Congress of the party. Among those selected for the party’s standing committee were Ishwar Pokharel, Pradip Gyawali and Kashinath Adhikari. Similarly, 29 party leaders were nominated as its central committee members.
The meeting gave rights to the secretariat to given final shape to the standing committee, form the politburo, advisory council and other organizational structures. General secretary Shankar Pokhrel provided a detailed overview of the meeting’s outcomes and the directives. Economic impact of the Bhotekoshi flood also drew much attention in the meeting.
The party stressed urgent need to rehabilitate those displaced and to rebuild vital infrastructures like roads and bridges. It demanded the government pay special attention to the vulnerable groups, including children, postpartum and pregnant women, the elderly, and individuals with disabilities in rehabilitation efforts.
The meeting said the developing countries like Nepal must be committed to the pursuit of climate justice. Friendly nations, international organizations, and local authorities were thanked by UML meeting for their support in rescue and relief operations following the devastative flood.
The meeting also objected to the arrests of party chair KP Sharma Oli and vice chair Bishnu Paudel in the name of investigation.
