Birgunj main road expansion in final stages

Birgunj: Road Division Office is gearing up to wrap up the road widening project by Monday, having already cleared most of the remaining structures.

Durga Prasad Nepal, the engineer from the Roads Division Office in Hetauda and the designated representative for Birgunj, shared that they aim to settle the ongoing dispute involving Nepal Telecom’s building and the road extension near Maisthan today, with hopes of finishing everything by tomorrow.

He mentioned that the plan is to have all work completed within a week. Most structures within the road boundary have already been taken down, and efforts to remove the last few are progressing quickly.

Currently, they are focused on clearing some structures behind Siddhartha Bank, Pampam Building, and Hanuman Temple. Engineer Nepal noted that some landlords had begun partial demolitions themselves, which has helped speed up the removal of incomplete structures.

In the initial phase, the Roads Division Office managed to take down around 1,200 houses and the front sections of buildings within 25 meters on either side of the main road a few months ago. RSS
