Fourth UAE relief flight delivers 38 tonnes of aid to Kathmandu, bringing air-delivered cargo to 186 tonnes

KATHMANDU, Sept 9: A fourth Emirati relief aircraft landed at Tribhuvan International Airport carrying approximately 38 tonnes of emergency supplies, expanding the United Arab Emirates’ ongoing air bridge to support families displaced by Nepal’s flash floods and landslides.

The shipment includes 500 family-sized shelter tents and 108 targeted relief packages, bringing the UAE’s cumulative air-delivered aid footprint to roughly 186 tonnes across four dedicated flights.

Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr. Mahabir Pun, welcomed the arrival of the fourth consignment at the capital’s airport along with UAE Ambassador to Nepal Abdulla Al Shamsi.

To accelerate distribution across remote mountain districts, the UAE Aid Agency has also begun procuring complementary relief provisions directly from local Nepali suppliers.

Meanwhile, a specialized search-and-rescue team from the Dubai Police remains active alongside local first responders in hard-hit zones.

The ongoing air bridge forms part of a $10 million total emergency humanitarian package directed by UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan
