Fourth batch of Chinese emergency aid lands in Kathmandu with rescue hovercrafts and flood control pumps

KATHMANDU, Sept 8: The fourth batch of emergency relief supplies provided by China arrived at Tribhuvan International Airport on Tuesday afternoon aboard a PLA Air Force Y-20A large transport aircraft, further expanding Beijing’s ongoing disaster response effort in Nepal.

Chinese Ambassador to Nepal H.E. Zhang Maoming and Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation Mahabir Pun attended the airport handover ceremony to receive the consignment.

The latest relief package features specialized technical and rescue hardware, including rescue hovercrafts, stainless steel permanent-magnet flood pumps, spare batteries, mortuary freezers, and solar-powered lights. According to the Chinese Embassy, the items were specifically selected to support search-and-rescue teams, drain submerged areas, restore off-grid lighting, and assist local authorities with victim preservation across affected districts.
