Chinese national rescued alive from Upper Trishuli-1 tunnel

Trishuli, Nuwakot: A Chinese national has been rescued alive from the Audit-4 tunnel of the 216-megawatt Upper Trishuli-1 Hydropower Project, which was affected by the devastating floods in the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli rivers.

The Nepali Army and a Korean disaster response team rescued the Chinese national from the tunnel at around 1:20 pm today, according to the Nepali Army.

The rescued person was given first aid before being taken to the Nepali Army’s Maithil Barracks in Trishuli, Nuwakot, for further medical care.

The Nepali Army, other security agencies and foreign experts are continuing search and rescue operations amid reports that more workers may still be trapped in other tunnels and areas of the project.
