Emirati specialized rescue Mission and third aircraft arrive in Kathmandu to support flood response

KATHMANDU, Sept 4: A specialized Emirati humanitarian and search-and-rescue mission, accompanied by a third relief aircraft carrying 20 tonnes of supplies, arrived in Kathmandu to bolster ongoing emergency operations following catastrophic floods and landslides across Nepal.

The specialized task force and humanitarian package were dispatched following directives from UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan as part of a $10 million total emergency aid allocation.

The arriving mission includes disaster relief specialists, medical evacuation experts, and a high-tech search-and-rescue team from the Dubai Police, working alongside personnel from the UAE Joint Operations Command and the UAE Aid Agency.

With this latest delivery, total aid dispatched under the UAE’s air bridge has reached 148 tonnes across three flights, delivering essential food provisions, shelter materials, medical equipment, and high-capacity power generators.

The UAE Aid Agency and the UAE Embassy in Kathmandu have initiated field deployment to conduct joint ground inspections, medical evacuations, and targeted aid distribution across the hardest-hit districts.
