Kathmandu, August 28: The Nepal Army has rescued 350 workers and local residents who were trapped inside a tunnel at the Upper Trishuli Hydropower Project in Rasuwa following a devastating flood in the Bhotekoshi River.

The rescue operation was carried out on Thursday after the flood struck the area on Wednesday morning, leaving hundreds of people stranded inside the project tunnel.

According to the Nepal Army, its personnel continued the rescue operation despite difficult weather conditions and significant risks at the site. The army said its teams remain engaged in efforts to evacuate more than 100 people who are still believed to be trapped inside the tunnel.

A team led by military officer Bhaktajan Basnet from the Number 1 Second Movement Tactical Headquarters (Trishuli) has been conducting the rescue operation around the clock.

The Nepal Army said its personnel are working continuously to ensure the safe evacuation of everyone remaining inside the tunnel despite the challenging conditions.
