US pledges $500,000 in relief following devastating Rasuwa flash floods

WASHINGTON, Aug 26: The United States Department of State has expressed deep condolences to Nepal following deadly flash floods in Rasuwa district, committing half a million dollars in humanitarian aid alongside technical response support.

According to an official media note issued by the State Department, the US is deploying a disaster response advisor to the region to monitor local needs and coordinate ongoing relief efforts.

To support affected communities directly, Washington will provide $500,000 in assistance through Catholic Relief Services. The funds are designated to deliver emergency shelter materials, essential relief items, and water, sanitation, and hygiene support across flood-impacted areas in Rasuwa.

Meanwhile, the US Embassy in Kathmandu is working alongside local authorities to locate and assist any American citizens in the district.

The State Department has also encouraged US citizens in affected regions to monitor local advisories, enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program, and reach out to embassy consular services for urgent assistance.
