UAE suspends all trade and financial transactions with Iran amid escalating tensions

ABU DHABI, Aug 19: The United Arab Emirates has halted all trade, commercial exchanges, and financial transactions with Iran until further notice, according to an official statement from the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA).
Addressing the decision, Afra Al Hameli, Director of the Strategic Communications Department at MoFA, dismissed claims regarding the existing status of economic ties between the two nations.
Al Hameli clarified that the indefinite suspension comes directly in response to heightened regional security escalations that undermine international peace and stability.
Despite the sweeping economic measures, MoFA reaffirmed Abu Dhabi’s dedication to regional dialogue, cooperation, and integration as vital mechanisms for fostering long-term stability and prosperity.
Al Hameli further emphasized that the UAE remains committed to upholding the integrity of the international financial system in accordance with global standards and international law.
