Intense rainfall causes substantial road blockages in various regions
Kathmandu: Intense rainfall has caused substantial road blockages in multiple regions.
According to police reports, as of this morning, traffic disruptions have been observed in Kavrepalanchok, Ilam, Sindhupalchok, Rasuwa, Rukum Paschhim, Sankhuwasabha, Lamjung, Mustang, Rolpa, and Chitwan.
To reduce the risk of flooding, vehicular traffic on the Khurkot-Nepalthok-Katunjebensi segment of the Kavrepalanchok-Sindhuli BP highway is restricted from 6:00 pm to 4:00 am each day, with operations resuming only during daylight hours.
Similarly, several major highways have been significantly affected; the Mechi Highway is entirely blocked by mud in Ilam, while landslides have hindered the Araniko Highway in Sindhupalchok and the Trishuli-Mailung-Safrubensi road in Rasuwa.
Additional blockages have been reported on the Jajarkot-Dolpa road in Rukum West and the Bensisahar-Manang road in Lamjung due to landslides. The Beni-Jomsom road in Mustang and the Prithvi Highway in Ichchha Manakamana Rural Municipality-5 in Chitwan have also been closed due to landslides.
The police have advised travelers to remain updated on road conditions and to take necessary precautions in light of the ongoing risks of landslides and flooding. RSS
