PSB Nepal’s Acting Chair Basnyat Assumes Office

Kathmandu: Newly appointed Acting Chairperson of Public Service Broadcasting (PSB) Nepal, Urvashi Basnyat, has officially assumed office at the PSB Nepal.

Upon her arrival at the PSB Radio Nepal office headquarters in Singha Durbar, Acting Chairperson Basnyat was welcomed by PSB Nepal Board Member Sobita Risal, Acting Chief Administrative Officer Aarti Chataut, and other officials of the organisation.

After assuming office, Acting Chairperson Basnyat expressed her commitment to ensuring good governance and transparency within Public Service Broadcasting Nepal while advancing broadcasting that is accountable to the public. She also pledged to seize opportunities despite existing challenges and to introduce significant improvements in the content and technology of news and programs produced by Radio Nepal and Nepal Television.

Acting Chief Administrative Officer of PSB Nepal, Aarti Chataut, stated that the organization is committed to addressing its internal challenges and fulfilling its responsibilities toward the state and its citizens.

Basnyat was appointed as a member of the PSB Nepal Board of Directors through a ministerial decision of the Ministry of Information and Communication on July 16, 2026, with the responsibility of chairing board meetings. She was subsequently entrusted with the role of Acting Chairperson on Thursday.
