Govt.’s attention drawn about preparedness of monsoon-induced disaster management

Kathmandu: National Assembly member Kamala Panta has drawn the attention of the government to make preparedness for monsoon-induced disaster management effective.

Putting forth her views on the resolution of urgent importance in today’s NA meeting, Panta, Nepali Congress Parliamentary Party leader in the National Assembly, demanded clear information about the government’s preparation to minimise losses and risk from monsoon-induced disasters like floods, landslides, inundation and the increasing risk of glacial lake outbursts.

She also asked the government about its plan for the rescue and rehabilitation of persons with disability, children, senior citizens, women and communities at risk.

Panta stressed the need of effective implementation of early warning, relocation of settlements at risk, rescue of human resources, and preparation of equipment, food, medicines and temporary housings as well as asked the government to brief the House about the preparation in implementation of monsoon preparedness and response action plan, rescue equipment, relief fund, effectiveness of early warning system, post disaster rescue, relief and rehabilitation preparation.

Supporting the resolution, lawmakers—Madan Kumari Shah (Garima), Somnath Portel and Padam Bahadur Pariyar drew government’s attention.
