Two new board members nominated at PSBN
Kathmandu: Two members have been nominated to the Board of Directors at the Public Service Broadcasting Nepal (PSBN).

According to the Information and Communication Ministry’s level decision of Thursday, Urbashi Basnyat and Shobhita Risal have been nominated as board members at the PSBN.
As per the Public Service Broadcasting Act, 2081, a board member designated by the Ministry can chair the meeting in case the position of its chair remains vacant. In accordance with the legally stipulated arrangement, board member Urbashi Bashnyat has been designated with the responsibility to chair the meeting until the appointment of the new chairperson.
At a nomination letter handover programme, Minister for Information and Communication Dr Bikram Timilsina lauded the historical contributions by Radio Nepal and Nepal Television to the enrichment of the communication sector of Nepal, and urged the PSB to carry on the glorious history of the state broadcasters in a further effective manner.
The minister instructed the PSB Board of Directors to perform in an impartial, responsible and people-centred manner in complying with the Constitution and existing legal frameworks. The state systems would be further consolidated only when state institutions perform their constitutional and legal obligations honestly, he asserted.
Stating that the information and communication institutions, having a glorious history now, are losing their glory due to several reasons, Minister Dr Timilsina directed the leadership to immediately initiate reform actions to vitalise their competence, credibility and effectiveness of the state agencies.
