Task force formed to resolve budget issue in Madhesh

Janakpurdham: A task force has been formed to resolve issues seen in the new financial year 2026/27 budget of the Madhesh Provincial Government.

In today’s meeting of the Madhesh Provincial Assembly, Speaker Ramashish Yadav announced that a task force has been formed consisting of Provincial Assembly members Upendra Mahato, Hari Narayan Mahato, Jangilal Ray, Pramod Kumar Yadav, Sanjay Kumar Yadav, Bimala Ansari, Tarun and Sarita Kumari Thakur.

The task force will start work from today after formulating its own working procedures. The task force was formed after opposition parties, including Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal, Janmat Party, and Rastriya Prajatantra Party, disrupted the meeting with demands for budget amendments.

Finance Minister Yubaraj Bhattarai had presented a budget of Rs. 41 billion 138.6 million in the Provincial Assembly meeting for the upcoming fiscal year 2083/84, prioritising agricultural innovation, entrepreneurship promotion, education, and health.

Also, in today’s meeting, Finance Minister Yubaraj Bhattarai presented the Provincial Government Appropriation Bill 2083. Similarly, in the meeting, Speaker Yadav announced that the proposal to suspend Sub-rules (2) and (3) of Rule 135 of the Madhesh Provincial Assembly Rules, presented by Provincial Assembly member Rabindra Shrestha, was approved by a majority.

The next meeting of the Provincial Assembly has been postponed to Tuesday.
