Woman killed in lightning strike in Sankhuwasabha

Kimathanka (Sankhuwasabha): A woman died after being hit by a lightning strike on Sunday.

Kumari Rai, 39, of Chirkhang of Makalu rural municipality-1 in Sankhuwasabha district, sustained critical injuries in the lightning strike and died while being taken to the Primary Health Centre in Num, according to the District Police Office (DPO), Sankhuwasabha.

Dhan Bahadur Rajbanshi, Information Officer at the DPO, shared that the incident occurred while Rai was switching off the electricity metre box at her house.

Police said that the dead body has been taken to the District Hospital, Sankhuwasabha and will be handed over to the family following a post-mortem examination.
