Information Ministry forms probe committee to investigate PSB procurement
Kathmandu: The Ministry of Information and Communication has formed a four-member committee to investigate the procurement of equipment and technology by Public Service Broadcasting (PSB), including Nepal Television, over different periods.
The committee was formed on June 15 through a ministerial decision and is coordinated by Dr. Sudip Bhattarai, according to the ministry. It has been given 21 days to complete its study and submit a report based on complaints related to equipment, software, and digital systems purchased by PSB.
The panel will also review graphics systems, digital platforms, audio-video equipment, digital transmitters, and the playout automation system used for Nepal Television’s Itahari channel. It has been mandated to consider public concerns as part of its investigation.
Complaints regarding the procurement had been filed at various bodies, prompting the formation of the committee. Earlier, the ministry had also formed a separate committee to investigate the satellite purchase for PSB.
