More Than 2,200 Motorists Penalised for Traffic Rule Violations in Kathmandu Valley
Kathmandu, June 7: Traffic police in the Kathmandu Valley have taken action against 2,256 motorists for violating various traffic regulations over the past 24 hours.
According to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, the enforcement drive generated revenue of Rs 491,000 through fines imposed on offenders.
Among those penalised, 151 motorists were found driving under the influence of alcohol, while 111 were booked for operating vehicles through unauthorised ride-sharing services. Similarly, 142 drivers were penalised for jumping traffic lights and 230 for exceeding speed limits.
Traffic police also took action against 33 motorists for violating lane discipline, 193 for unnecessary use of horns in restricted areas, 117 for improper parking, and 118 for driving on one-way roads.
In addition, 1,161 motorists were fined for various other traffic-related offences as part of the Valley-wide monitoring and enforcement campaign.
