Citizen-centered governance system being built: Minister Dr Timilsina
Bidur (Nuwakot): Minister for Information and Communication Dr Bikram Timilsina has said that Nepal is moving towards a new political culture with the development of a citizen-centered governance system.
Addressing the inaugural session of the first district convention of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Nuwakot, he said distortions such as “setting” and the influence of middlemen in government bodies were coming to an end.
He said the government is working to ensure corruption-free, transparent and accountable delivery of public services. According to him, the role of intermediaries influencing decisions through undue pressure or incentives is declining, and political culture must change from the beginning.
Minister Dr Timilsina said politics should not serve individual interests but guide the country’s direction, adding that development work is now being carried out without discrimination among regions or communities.
He also said the practice of allocating budgets based on power and influence has ended, and the government is focused on fulfilling election commitments while addressing citizens’ concerns and expectations.
Stating that results may not be immediate, the Information and Communication Minister said the government should be judged based on its direction, decisions and procedures.
He urged constructive cooperation from all sides to strengthen governance and called for unity within the party during the district convention.
