Kaski Traffic Police Collect Over Rs 4.4 Million in Fines in One Month

Pokhara, May 19: Traffic police in Kaski collected more than Rs 4.4 million in revenue from traffic rule violations during the Nepali month of Baisakh.

According to the District Police Office, Kaski, a total of 5,263 drivers were fined during the period for violating various traffic rules.

Police Inspector Sujit Kumar Devkota said 22 road accidents were recorded in the district in the past month. The accidents claimed five lives while 26 people sustained injuries.

Traffic police data show that 12 vehicles were penalised for overspeeding. Likewise, five people were found driving without licenses, and three drivers were caught driving under the influence of alcohol.

Inspector Devkota said traffic police have intensified monitoring and action against rule violators. The District Police Office and the Traffic Police Office have been jointly conducting vehicle and driver inspections in different areas.

Police also monitored the behaviour of drivers and conductors towards passengers during the campaign launched to help reduce road accidents. The behaviour of traffic police personnel towards the public was also reviewed as part of the drive.
