Parsa National Park Forms Wildlife Rescue Team for Emergency Response
Birgunj (Parsa), May 12: Parsa National Park has established a dedicated Wildlife Rescue Team to respond quickly to increasing cases of injured wildlife inside the protected area.
Officials said the new arrangement has reduced the need to seek assistance from neighbouring Chitwan National Park for emergency animal rescue and treatment. The team has been on standby since mid-April.
According to Information Officer Santosh Kumar Bhagat, the rescue unit has made it easier to provide timely medical care to injured animals and reduce further risks within the park.
The team includes veterinarians, wildlife technicians, and drivers, and is mobilised when needed across Parsa, Rautahat, and Makawanpur districts.
Bhagat said the park has already treated several wildlife cases since the beginning of the current fiscal year. These include emergency care for a tiger, six spotted deer, and around 100 cobras.
Similarly, 25 king cobras, 15 pythons, one pangolin, and a few other animals were treated and later released back into their natural habitat after recovery.
Officials say the initiative is expected to strengthen wildlife protection and improve rapid response capacity in emergency situations within the protected area.
