Parliament’s Budget Session Begins Today
Kathmandu, May 11: The budget session of the Federal Parliament is set to commence today with separate meetings of both houses followed by a joint sitting later in the afternoon.
According to the Federal Parliament Secretariat, the House of Representatives and the National Assembly will convene separately at 2:00 pm. During the meetings, several ordinances recently issued by the government through the President are expected to be presented for parliamentary approval.
A joint session of the Federal Parliament has been scheduled for 4:00 pm at the House of Representatives Chamber in Singha Durbar.
President Ramchandra Paudel is slated to present the government’s policies and programmes for the upcoming fiscal year during the joint meeting of both houses.
In a notice issued by Federal Parliament General Secretary Padam Prasad Pandey, lawmakers have been requested to take their seats in the chamber before 3:45 pm ahead of the commencement of the joint session.
The budget session is considered significant as it will pave the way for discussions on the government’s annual policies, programmes and budget priorities for the next fiscal year.
