Constitutional Council to discuss recommendation for Chief Justice appointment today

Kathmandu: A meeting of the Constitutional Council is being held today to move the process of appointing the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.

The Council Secretariat has called the meeting on the directive of the Prime Minister and Council Chairperson Balendra Shah.

According to the Secretariat, the meeting is scheduled for 5:00 pm today at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar. The main agenda is the recommendation for the appointment of the Chief Justice.

Speaker of the House of Representatives Dol Prasad Aryal, National Assembly Chairperson Narayan Prasad Dahal, Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Sobita Gautam, Leader of the Opposition in the House of Representatives Bhishma Raj Angdembe, and Deputy Speaker Ruby Kumari have been invited to attend the meeting.
