Japanese parliamentary delegation calls on NA Chair Dahal
Kathmandu: A visiting parliamentary delegation from Japan called on National Assembly Chairman Narayan Prasad Dahal on Friday.
The team, comprising members in the House of Councillors, the upper house of Japan’s National Diet and Chair of Japan-Nepal Parliamentary Friendship, Yosuke Tsuruho, visited the NA Chair at Singha Durbar.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed issues relating to bilateral relations between Nepal and Japan, matters of mutual interest, and parliamentary cooperation and collaboration, according to Dahal’s press advisor Dilli Malla.
On the occasion, NA Chair Dahal described Japan as a valuable development partner of Nepal, highlighting Japan’s support to various areas in Nepal.
Stating that Nepal-Japan diplomatic relations have already completed 70 years of establishment, he was of the view that bilateral visits at the diplomatic and parliamentary levels would contribute to further consolidating such relations.
He apprised the delegation of Nepal’s parliament of the preparations to form a Nepal-Japan Parliamentary Friendship Group very soon.
“Gautam Buddha and Lumbini have their specific roles in expanding the socio-cultural ties between the two nations,” the NA Chair said, expressing his hope that the Government of Japan would take an initiation to start the Lumbini-Japan straight flight.
He said Japan has been an attractive destination for Nepali students and workers, further contributing to fostering bilateral relations at the people-to-people level.
League Chair Yosuke said they were very pleased at having an opportunity to visit Nepal, adding that parliamentary cooperation would help foster the bilateral ties.
Talking about President Ramchandra Paudel’s recent visit to Japan, he said such a high-level visit has played a special role in strengthening the bilateral ties.
He also promised to negotiate through the Japanese Embassy in Nepal to connect Lumbini and Japan via a direct flight.
Japan’s Ambassador to Nepal, Maeda Toru, was also present in the meeting. RSS
