NAIMA conducts hybrid vehicle training to boost technical skills in Kathmandu

Kathmandu: A technical training on hybrid vehicle systems, safety, and maintenance was held in Kathmandu on Thursday. The training was organised with an aim of strengthening Nepal’s skilled automotive workforce.
The program was organised by the Nepal Automobile Importers and Manufacturers Association (NAIMA) with technical support from United Traders Syndicate Pvt. Ltd., the authorised distributor of Toyota in Nepal.

More than 25 participants attended, including diploma-level students from Balaju School of Engineering and Technology under the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT), as well as traffic personnel.
The training combined theory and hands-on practice on hybrid vehicle mechanisms. It follows a recent three-day electric vehicle training at Laxmi Hyundai, reflecting a structured effort to link EV and hybrid technologies.
Officials highlighted the growing relevance of hybrid vehicles in Nepal’s terrain. CTEVT representatives said hybrid technology may be prioritised in future curricula.
Industry speakers stressed stronger collaboration between technical institutions and the automobile sector to produce skilled manpower.
NAIMA said it will continue such initiatives to promote technical capacity, innovation, and sustainable mobility.
