46 Nepalis rescued from Cambodia, Nepali Embassy urges caution on foreign jobs

Kathmandu: Forty-six Nepalis have been rescued from Cambodia and brought back home.

According to the Nepali Embassy in Bangkok, the individuals were allegedly taken to Cambodia through different routes and were later found to be engaged in illegal work. They were rescued with the help of the Cambodian authorities and safely repatriated.

The Embassy said a growing number of Nepalis have been travelling to Cambodia in search of employment, with figures rising from 101 in 2021 to 9,676 in 2025.

It has urged Nepali citizens not to travel to Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand without obtaining proper labour approval, warning of risks linked to unsafe migration and irregular employment.
