Pokhara hotels see high occupancy during New Year celebrations

Gandaki, April 14: More than 90 percent of hotels in the Lakeside area of Pokhara have been fully occupied as visitors flock to the city to celebrate the Nepali New Year.

Chair of the Hotel Association Pokhara, Laxman Subedi, said tourists from across the country have arrived in large numbers, significantly increasing hotel occupancy.

The ongoing Fewa New Year Festival has also contributed to the surge in visitors. Now in its 21st edition, the festival aims to promote tourism in the region.

Known for its natural beauty, cultural heritage, and adventure activities, Pokhara—declared the country’s tourism capital—continues to attract domestic travellers, especially during major holidays.

According to Subedi, Pokhara has around 1,200 hotels with a daily accommodation capacity of about 40,000 visitors.
